Grammar

έχει / δεν έχει — έχουν / δεν έχουνέχω = "to have". έχει = "he / she has", έχουν = "they have". As with είναι, put δεν right before the verb for "not": δεν έχουν κρασί = "they have no wine".Ο άντρας έχει κρασί. · Η γυναίκα δεν έχει κρασί. · Δεν έχουν κρασί.
κάντε / γεμίστε / πάρτε / φέρτε / γκρεμίστε — μην κάνετεA command to several people usually ends in -τε: κάντε (do!), γεμίστε (fill!), πάρτε (take!), φέρτε (bring!), γκρεμίστε (destroy!). To one person it is shorter: κάνε, έλα. For "do not", use μην with the -ετε form: μην κάνετε = "do not make".Ό,τι σας πει, κάντε το. · Γεμίστε τις στάμνες με νερό. · Μην κάνετε το σπίτι του Πατέρα μου αγορά!
η στάμνα → οι στάμνες · ο μαθητής → οι μαθητές · το πρόβατο → τα πρόβαταPlural nouns change their ending and their article: feminine -α → -ες (οι στάμνες, οι μέρες), masculine -ης → -ες (οι υπηρέτες, οι μαθητές), neuter -ο → -α (τα πρόβατα) and -ι → -ια (τα σημάδια, τα περιστέρια). The plural articles are οι (masculine and feminine) and τα (neuter); as objects: τους, τις, τα.Είναι έξι στάμνες. · Οι υπηρέτες γεμίζουν τις στάμνες. · Βλέπεις πρόβατα.
κάνει → έκανε · γίνεται → έγινε · πιστεύουν → πίστεψαν · θυμούνται → θυμήθηκανThe simple past tells what happened once. Many verbs add έ- at the front and change the stem: κάνει → έκανε (did), δείχνει → έδειξε (showed), γίνεται → έγινε (became). The ending -αν means "they": πίστεψαν (they believed), θυμήθηκαν (they remembered), είδαν (they saw).Το νερό έγινε κρασί. · Έδειξε τη δόξα Του. · Οι μαθητές θυμήθηκαν και πίστεψαν.
η ώρα μου · η μητέρα Του · το σπίτι σου · το σπίτι του Πατέρα μου"My, your, his" are short words placed after the noun: μου (my), σου (your), του (his), σας (your, plural). The noun keeps its article: η ώρα μου = "my hour". When the noun is accented three syllables from the end, it gains a second accent: το όνομά Του, του σώματός Του.Δεν ήρθε ακόμα η ώρα μου. · Η μητέρα Του είναι εδώ. · Ο ζήλος για το σπίτι σου θα με φάει.
